A Set of Four La Courtille, Paris Porcelain Dessert Plates, early 19th century, each circular plate centrally painted with three pink roses within a border of repeat speedwell heads, with gilt dentil rims, crossed torches mark in underglaze blue, 23.5cm diameter

La Courtille - Rue Fontaine-au-Roi, was founded in 1771 by Jean Baptiste Locré. He was granted the two crossed torches mark in 1793. The factory produced outstanding porcelain in Meissen style, and undecorated items were sold to England, and were decorated by William Billingsley and others.

Two plates are good, but with rubbed rims. The other two plates - one has two rim cracks, the other has a long line crack across the centre with staining from the cracks and substantial rubbing of the gilding on the rims. 050210
