British Commonwealth: King George VI Album
A very well-filled green Stanley Gibbons KGVI album, from the same collector as the previous lot, brimming with over 4,500 mint stamps, generally very high quality and occasionally mounted on selvage leaving some key never hinged incl. Bermuda 2/6d and 12/6d, Silver Wedding high values of Gibraltar, Hong Kong, K.U.T., Kuwait, Muscat, etc. Other strengths include the Malaysian States sets incl. Perak to $1 1940, India Gandhi set and 1949-51 temples, Bahrain and Kuwait overprints on India etc. all very clean. The occasional rust spot fortunately limited to a few of the Silver Wedding issues but unfortunately including the Hong Kong $10, showing lightly through three perfs. Otherwise immaculate virtually throughout. Stated to catalogue (2006) £26,700+.

Highlights include a specialised collection of St. Helena stamps and postal history, and a very extensive and impressive holding of Russian postal history with a particular focus on the Post Offices Abroad. The latter collector’s interests also extended through the Baltics to excellent Scandinavian Locals, as well as around the Eastern Mediterranean from the Balkans to Palestine and Egypt.
Amongst the postcards offered in the sale are fantastic albums from a dedicated collector, of high-quality and comprehensively assembled, which include transport related cards of Leeds, Skipton, Lancaster, Teesside and Middlesbrough as well as excellent general Yorkshire cards.
