A William IV Silver-Gilt Mounted Hardstone Inkwell, by Paul Storr, London, 1832, the hardstone body carved in the form of a horse's hoof, the silver-gilt mounts cast and chased with hair, with a part domed cover opening to reveal the silver-gilt mounted conforming glass bottle, with an associated gilt-metal pen, 12.5cm wide

. Fully marked on back of mounts and on bezel of silver-gilt mounted bottle. Further part marked inside cover and on 'horseshoe'. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the gilding. There are some minor chips and scratches to the glass bottle. The 'horseshoe' is partly detached on one side.
