Excellent collection of about 1500 all different predominantly mint stamps in a stockbook from a collector's large holding of stockbooks and albums. This collection with pristine never hinged quality on many of the best issues and most of the rest very lightly hinged. Some gum toning on certain issues as usual, generally this is light. Begins with some useful 19th century incl. Tuscany 6cr on blue paper used four margins (Sa.7, cat €400), 1884-86 parcel posts set mint (cat. €250), etc. In the 20th century the following all MNH unless otherwise stated: 1911 Rome/Torino set (Sa.92/95, cat. €350), 1921 Dante set imperf (Sa.116f/118f, approx. cat. €400), 1922 Mazzini set, 1926-28 airmails (cat. €700), 1928 monuments set mint, 1929 ‘Imperial’ set, 1929 Montecassino set, 1930 Virgil postage MNH and airmails vlh (cat. €680), 1931 Saint Anthony through to 1932 Dante set complete, the latter incl. airmails (Sa.292/314, A26/A31, cat. €1,050), etc, with many more good 1930s and early ‘40s sets MNH or vlh. The post-war issues continue the collection strongly with over £2,800 SG cat. on just the following MNH examples: 1945 100L carmine, 1948 St. Catherine and revolution centenary sets, 1948 Express 35L, 1949 Venice bienniale and Volta sets, 1947-54 postage dues and 1956 8L due with stars watermark.
