An Interesting Large Rack Lever Pocket Watch, inscribed Pickford & Co No.7, signed Geo Grove, No.93 Wood Street, Cheapside, London, circa 1800, gilt fusee movement, diamond endstone, three-armed steel balance, dust cover signed, enamel dial with Roman numerals, base metal case back inscribed Pickford & Co No.7, 65mm wide

By repute this watch is considered to be a 'coachman's watch' and linked to the Pickford & Co Removal Transport Company. Pickford & Co was founded in the mid 18th century and was one of the country's greatest national concerns. Until the introduction of the railway, Pickford's coaches were commonly used to transport goods around the country. The Pickford Company is still in existence.
