"La Femme et le Diable": The Eunuch"
Signed, gouache, silver and gold paint on paper, 28.5cm by 22cm
together with three further designs by the artist: "Design for a Military Costume", "Tableau Hindou" costume design 1921, (Sotheby's 19th December 1996, lot 208 and 207) and "Design for South Sea Islands Bird Headdresses", 35cm by 25.5cm, 28.5cm by 22cm and 33.5cm by 24cm respectively (4)

Tableau Hindou has some light surface dirt/ discolouration to the paper. There are one of two spots of foxing here and there. Four pin pricks, two to the upper left hand corner, one below the second pleat of the left of the figures dress, and one below the right of the dress. Two splodges of ink to the upper right hand corner. A spot of foxing below the hat, one below the elbow and some surrounding the orange swirl coming off the hat. La Femme et le Diable, has some slight discolouration to the paper/ surface dirt and one or two minor spots of foxing. A slight crease to the left of the figures eyes. Light handling marks to the outer edges/corners. Some white areas within the costume (it is not clear if these are part of the design or losses) There is also a white area to the bottom of the hat which looks more like a loss. Military Costume design, has slight discolouration to the paper, considerable creasing to the paper and splodges of paint, especially down the left hand side and to the bottom right hand corner. One or two minor spots of paint within the costume. The bird headdresses has slight discolouration to the paper and light cockelling. There is a shadow down the left hand side and across the top from a previous mount. Some minor spots of foxing. Handling creases to the bottom corners. These works are all behind glass and have not been examined out of the frames.
