They are not long, the days of wine and roses;
Out of a misty dream
Our path emerges for a while, then closes
Within a dream
Ernest Dowson (1867-1900)

Three Fates is part of a series of works that can be considered as ‘MomentoMori’, that life is fleeting, is the reality. Having lost a dearly beloved partner to cancer late in 2019 these works reflect my response to a lost love, mentor and life partner. Contrary to being a morbid reflection on the inevitable and unwanted end, rather, these works attempt to celebrate the cycle of life and our part within it, a celebration of a life fully lived. As the sea meets the shore, and then recedes, so it is with our lives. “Three Fates” would remind us all, in a world in turmoil, where we can, to show a kindness, lend a hand or simply lend an ear, do…in the knowledge that Prince or pauper, we share our common fate.
