We are happy to provide Condition Reports to Prospective Buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale.
We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a condition report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
A Condition Report is an honest expression of our opinion, not a statement of fact and is provided as a service to the Seller. All lots are available on public view ahead of an auction and we encourage people to see an item in person when possible.
Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated.
Works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. We accept no liability for the opinions expressed in any Condition Report.
Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
Auction: Street Art: A Timed Auction on behalf of Vandals At Work in aid of SASH, ending 3rd Aug, 2025
Tennants is delighted to once again be hosting this timed online auction on behalf of Vandals at Work, a York-based non-profit community arts organisation.
Vandals at Work aims to enrich Yorks’ cultural landscape by organising exhibitions, auctions, and other events that raise money for local charities and support and collaborate with artists. To date, more than sixty artists and have donated over £55,000 to three local charities, York Food Bank, York Mind and SASH (Youth Homelessness).
This year’s exhibition, Vandal Fest will be taking place at the Low Ousegate building in the centre of York, kindly donated by Mack & Lawler and opens on 11th July 2025. The event will span four storeys of the unoccupied building, featuring the work of an exciting group of world-class street artists alongside a cohort of local artists. Vandal Fest is the third in a trio of vandal-themed exhibitions that celebrate the rich history and culture of graffiti and street art. This time around the emphasis is very much on the fun side of the movement, artworks that put a smile on people’s faces and raise a mischievous chuckle. To support this year’s fundraising project, participating artists have specially created and kindly donated unique works which will be sold in this timed online auction.
The event and auction will be raising funds for SASH, a registered charity preventing homelessness in young people aged 16 to 25 throughout North and East Yorkshire.
The exhibition will run for three weeks from July 11th to 27th 2025. Opening on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday each week. Week 1: July 11–13, Week 2: 18–20, and Week 3: 25–27.
Bidding in the timed auction opens on Thursday 17th July at 3pm and lots will begin to close on Sunday 3rd August at 12 noon.
