A Group of Five Japanese Carved Elephant Ivory Figures of Female Musicians, late Meiji period (1868-1912), one stands in dancing pose holding a fan in both hands, another kneels whilst opening a fan, the other three playing drum, percussion and biwa respectively, the tallest 15cm, the smallest 7.3cm

Standing figure - no chips or cracks noted, so it is good overall. The ivory is rather dry on the surface. Kneeling fan example - similar to preceding. Kneeling drum - similar to preceding. Percussion - tiny chip on tip of robes on reverse. Biwa - the angled head of the biwa is now missing (piece not retained). Please note this has an inset red kakiehan with two character incised mark. 300911
