Tank Regiment Interest: a 9ct gold and enamel Tank Regiment sweetheart brooch; a Perugia maiolica ashtray, "Good Luck 8th Army...", 15.6 cm diameter (a/f), and a cancelled Credit Foncier d'Algerie et de Tunisie cheque, renamed to Westminster Bank Ltd., in favour of Lucullus Restaurant, Beyrouth (Beirut), dated 5th October 1944 (3)
Note: Formerly the property of Brig. Gen. Gerald Tarlton, the cheque was settlement for a meal enjoyed at a restaurant in Beirut and for which the diners had insufficient cash to settle up. The dubious owner, obliged to accept payment "in kind", was eventually remunerated as the cheque proves.
