A Mintons Pate-sur-Pate Plaque, by Louis Marc Emmanuel Solon, 1872, worked in white slip with Cupid standing at an anvil flanked by a kneeling classical soldier and maiden in a temple and with six putti on an olive-green ground, signed and dated L Solon (18)72, 14.5cm by 36cm
Having trained at the Sevres factory, Solon moved to England in 1870 at the time of the Franco-Prussian War, and found employment at the Minton factory where he became a leading specialist in the pate-sur-pate technique

Some typical minor firing flaws and surface wear.
It may be that this plaque was produced by Solon at home rather than on a Minton plaque produced at the factory.
