oblong and on conforming foot, with shell and foliage heightened gadrooned border, the hinged cover with fluted thumbpiece and tapering finial, with angular handle

Fully marked under rim and further part marked inside cover. There is some wear to the marks on the body, particularly the maker's mark which is only partially visible. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points. The finial has perhaps been reattached to the cover and there is a bruise visible inside the cover where it attaches. There is a repair to the handle at the lower junction.
