The ring is in poor condition with rubbing to the silver gilt, evidence of re-sizing/repair, and extensive scuffing/scratches. It bears no hallmark nor stamp but in our opinion would test as silver gilt. Gross weight 9.9 grams.

Having worked for Christie’s for 57 years, Phillips was a legend his field, admired for his curiosity and passion for his subject, his deep knowledge and his steadfast mentoring.
The sale will offer over 120 lots of rare and early silver, jewellery ancient world through to the early modern period, intricate objects of vertu and a selection of key reference books.
