20th Century Soldiers Embroidery Industry Silk Curtain Worked in the Chinese Style, with large central multi petalled flower head in the Kakiemon palate of colours, surrounded by scrolling decorative flower heads and flying birds, interlined with silk backing, bears a stitched label to the reverse 'Soldiers Embroidery Industry, Made by the Totally Disabled, 42 Ebury Street' 260cm by 247cm

The Soldiers Embroidery Industry Operated between 1918 and 1955. It was perhaps the most successful and high-profile scheme that aimed to help disabled combatants, returning from the First World War, back to employment through the small-scale production of domestic and luxury textiles marketed to middle class and aristocratic consumers.

The central part of the embroidery appears to be in the best condition, but on the right and left side the silk has split from top to bottom. slight discolouration to the silk.

Wednesday 17 August - Thursday 18 August 10am-4pm, Friday 19 August 10am-5pm and morning of sale from 8am. Viewing is open to the public, there is no need to make an appointment.
