A Victorian Silver Table-Service
Mostly by William Bateman and Daniel Ball, London, 1841

King's shape with foliage border, single struck, engraved with a crest, comprising:
6 table-spoons, two by Henry and Henry Lias, 1856
12 table-forks, three by Henry and Henry Lias, 1856
12 dessert-spoons
12 dessert-forks, three by Henry and Henry Lias, 1856
11 teaspoons
6 egg-spoons
2 sauce-ladles
and the following with composition handles and stainless steel blades:
12 table-knives
12 cheese-knives
in later walnut-finish canteen with hinged cover, fall front and single drawer
14.3cm high, 14oz 3dwt, 441gr (85)

Each piece fully marked on back of handle. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as very minor softening to the engraving. There is some wear to the tines and bowls. The case is probably first half 20th century. The blades of the knives are marked for J. R. Odgen, Harrogate and London. There is some scratching and marks to the case.
