A George II Silver-Mounted Cowrie Shell Snuff-Box
Apparently Unmarked, Circa 1750

the natural shell with foliage and flower chased mounts, the hinged silver cover engraved with a coat-of-arms

5.2cm wide

Sold for £220
Estimated at £120 - £180


There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraved and chasing which is noticeable worn in places. There is a small hole in the silver mount near the hinge.
