A French Silver and Cut-Glass Dessert-Stand
by Jean Lucien Ferry, Paris, Late 19th Century

on oval base, the narrow sides each with foliage-cast feet capped with a cast bust of a winged putto, the wide sides with openwork scroll-cast foot, capped with a vacant cartouche, stamped with foliage and a female mask, with shaped circular cut-glass bowl

Marked on edge of foot with makers mark 'Ferry'. Further marked near putto wing on one side with Minerva mark and on the other side near with with French export mark. The silver mount on the glass bowl with Minerva mark only. The marks are generally clear, though the maker's mark is struck on the edge and partly not visible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. Rocks slightly when placed on a flat surface. There is an uneven area inside the bowl, near the centre. This is possible due to a chip being polished out.
