Jowett 7/17 Fixed Head Coupe
Presented in Cream/White with black roof and navy blue interior
This car was re-constructed on a modified chassis from an original collection of loose Jowett components of the 1929-30 period. Some subtle updating has been incorporated to fit modern traffic conditions. This includes compensated hydraulic footbrake control of the standard Jowett drum brakes, alternator charging and flashing indicators. A completely new body was designed and constructed in typical Jowett style and materials. The engine is fitted with new (standard size) 946cc cylinders and the crankshaft bearings are standard size. To aid performance the 3 speed gearbox has been replaced with Jowett's excellent 1933 4 speed unit. The car was put back on the road in 2004 and has been in continuous use since. The car comes with a brown log book, correct instruction book, registration documents and old MOTs. Tools include a period jack, wheel brace and boot key. There is a spare wheel with unused tyre and an extra new tyre and tube in the boot. The current owner has driven and reconstructed early Jowetts over a period of 60 years. A previous 1927 car is in the collection of the Bradford Industrial Museum, another 1928 car sold for £23000 at an American auction 19 months ago and last year an ex-restored 19129 saloon was driven to the south of France and back without incident.
