19th Century Floral Strippy Quilt, comprising stripes of blue cotton, pink and white floral prints and white cotton printed with a large repeating peacock and floral motif, white to the reverse, hand quilted with scrolling leaf and clam shell patterns, 188cm by 216cm

Some slight staining/discolouration to a section of the peacock fabric, some worn areas, particularly to the trim that have resulted in small holes.  Hole/patched repair to the centre of the quilt - see image.
The quilt is constructed of two sections machine stitched together, possibly had a strip removed?  - see the images on the reverse.  All the finished edges are machine stitched except half of the bottom width from where the quilt has had its vertical stitched seam.


Unfortunately no provenance the vendor selling it, had had it for 20+ years and was down sizing.

Auction: Costume, Accessories & Textiles, 9th Feb, 2024

A host of beautiful 18th and 19th century costume and accessories redolent of the English Country House will go under the hammer in the Costume, Accessories and Textiles Sale on 9th February, including a rare set of 19th century men's livery uniforms, a group of parasols which once belonged to Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood and daughter of George V, 18th century silk shoes and dresses, a 1930s lady's motoring outfit and a carved knitting stick inscribed 'Rudding Park', the fine Georgian manor on the outskirts of Harrogate.

Also of note in the sale is a circa 1911 Steiff teddy bear, and a good collection of Lace from a Private Collection, which includes fine examples of Late 19th Century Irish Youghal Needle Lace, Late 19th Century Swiss Whitework Lace, and Early 20th Century Honiton Lace.
