Fascinating postal history accumulation in a box-file, binder and album, approx. 150 covers, especially Scottish with excellent range of Banff postmarks on stampless covers incl. 1803 'globe' dateless Banff and red 'Free' apple on letter to Earl of Fife, c.1818-1820s correspondence between Scotland and France (13) with lots of unusual postmarks, redirections etc, a few letters from USA (Charleston and Savannah) to the latter addressees, correspondence with Garmouth Penny Post box straight-lines mostly franked with imperf 1d reds (12), clean cover to Lady Forbes with large detailed seal, straight-line Cullen and red bishop mark, etc, group of penny black covers (7), lots of imperf reds plated on cover, 1d red stars correspondence incl. Scottish street postmarks as sole cancel, a neatly written-up collection on Scottish postmarks with lots of further local straight-lines, etc. A great lot for research, with much potential.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
