A Victorian Silver Travelling Dressing-Table Set
by Francis Douglas, London, 1850

each piece engine-turned or plain, engraved with a crest, comprising: three oblong boxes of various sizes, each with pull-off cover, 16.5cm wide and smaller; a further oblong box with hinged screw-down cover, 7.6cm wide; a circular jar with pull-off cover, 7.9cm diameter; a pair of scent-bottles with plain screw-caps, 12cm high and a shaving-brush, in fitted leather cover case, the hinged cover with compartment for further implements, now lacking

The crest is that of Fleming.

Each piece marked inside cover. The covers on the scent-bottles are apparently unmarked. The marks are generally clear. There are some surface scratches and wear, consistent with age and use as well as some minor bruises. There is some corrosion and pitting to one of the oblong boxes. The cover with detachable liner with spaces inside for implements, probably a manicure set, which are now lacking. The case with scuffs and marks overall.
