Taxidermy: A Large Cased Diorama of Birds & Reptiles Native to India, circa 1872, India, by Henry Shaw, Taxidermist, Salop, an impressive and rare diorama of birds and reptiles native to India, all mounted upon branches and painted faux rock ledges, comprising of forty six various bird specimens, together with two juvenile Gharial Crocodiles, bird species to include - Himalayan Monal, Cheer Pheasants, Koklass Pheasants, Indian Golden Oriole, Black-headed Oriole, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, White-throated Kingfisher, Pied Kingfisher, Black Francolin, a pair of Lesser Golden-backed Woodpeckers, Lineated Barbet, Rufous Treepie, Tibetan Sandgrouse, etc, further bird identification available in condition report, all set against a pale blue painted back drop, enclosed within a large oak framed three-glass floor standing display case, 165cm by 56cm by 153cm, bearing copper shield - ''India, Collected by R.J.H.P'', signed and dated to interior floor H. Shaw, Salop, 72.
