An Edward VII Silver-Gilt Cup and Cover
by Carrington and Co., London, 1907

in the Neo-Classical style, tapering and on spreading foot, with drapery and husk swags and two loop handles, the detachable cover with vase shaped finial above chased foliage, on ebonised wood plinth, applied with a plaque engraved 'Jonquil Waterloo Cup 1960', with a card label gilt tooled 'The Waterloo Coursing Meeting 1960 Nominator' and with two menus for a dinner hosted by Mrs Basil Kerr to celebrate Jonquil winning the Waterloo Cup run at Altcar, February 1960, one with various signatures

52cm high including plinth, the cup and cover 43cm high, 80oz 12dwt, 2,507gr

Fully marked on side near handles and on cover bezel. The base stamped with maker's name. There is some overall surface scratching and wear. There is a scratched and discoloured areas where an inscription has been removed. The are some scratches and damage to the plinth. The gilding is later.
