in the Charles II style, tapering cylindrical and on spreading foot, chased with Chinoiserie-style foliage scrolls and fruiting grapevines, the detachable cover with openwork foliage finial, with two female bust cast handles, on later ebonised plinth, applied with a plaque engraved with an inscription

The inscription on the plaque reads 'Presented to Major L. B. Holliday, M.F.H., by the Derwent Hunt 1922'.

Fully marked near rim and on cover bezel. The marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is most noticeable as a loss to the gilding as can be seen in the catalogue illustration. There is loss to the ebonising on the plinth and scuffing and marks to the plinth overall. The finial has perhaps been reattached.
