An Edward VII Silver Box
by Walker and Hall, Sheffield, 1904

oblong and on four openwork scroll feet, the hinged cover stamped 'Throne The Royal Toilet Soap', the front engraved with an inscription to The Right Honourable Lady Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside, dated 1905, the inside velvet lined

Fully marked on front of base and part marked on front. The marks are clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The interior is lined with green velvet which is in generally good condition, though there is some residue in a couple of places . There is a slight bruise above one foot. The total gross weight is 15oz 12dwt, 485gr

The inscription on the cover reads '"Throne": The Royal Toilet Soap Violet Bouquet Edward Cook & Co. Ltd The Soup Specialists London'.

The inscription on the front reads 'Presented To The Right Honourable Lady Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside by Edward Cook & Co. Ltd. The Soap Specialists London E. as a Souvenir of the Bazaar Oct. 1905 in Aid of the Funds of the 1st Newcastle-on-Tyne Artillery Volunteers Soap Box Wrappers etc. are English Work Throughout'.
