A Large Circa 1890's Fan, the blonde tortoiseshell monture plain save for a diamond emblem fixed to the upper guard. The very fine quality leaf is of Point de Gaze needle lace, with a hand made net. The lace is as crisp and clean as when made, and features unusual and intricate designs, lilacs in addition to roses, (no raised petals), one flower head resembling a peony, and fillings that could only have been undertaken by the most competent of lacemakers. Contained in a substantial fan box covered in brown leather, the lid embossed in gold with the initials MP and intricate floral patterns, the interior of cream suede and stamped inside the lid for Duvelleroy, 17 Passage Panoramas and 85 Boulvd des Capucines.

. A very fine example of this needle lace. To the right there is the tiniest of peach marking that appears to be face powder and would probably come off. Under the box the covering has been damaged by removal of a label.
