A Large and Vibrant Fan, circa 1890's, the monture of mother-of-pearl dyed a bright shade of cerise, the upper guard applied with a diamond monogram beneath a coronet denoting the rank of Marquis. The single red gauze leaf, mounted à l'anglaise, the ribs being a continuation of the mother-of-pearl gorge sticks, is painted with great detail, with four young ladies in their finery taking the air, on the balcony of a grand house, the ironwork bearing the shield relating to a Marquis, the lady standing at the back holding an open black feather fan. Together with a very substantial box made from high quality pale birds eye maple lined in red silk
