In Magnificentissimum hoc supra designatum Spectaculum nocturnorum Ignium, jactorum inter solennia honoris Equestris, Ordinis D. Georgii ..... 29th July 1669. A depiction of the Firework Display held at Stockholm in 1669 to celebrate the election of the Swedish sovereign, King Charles XI to the Order of the Garter. The plate illustrated Elias Ashmole's 'The Institution, Laws & Ceremonies Of the most Noble Order of the Garter' 1672 and is generally attributed to Wencesles Hollar.
Double page engraving, plate mark 323mm x 422mm, a little wear to margins, some tanning and damp staining.
