An Early 20th Century Purple Velvet Evening Dress with short sleeves trimmed with gathered silk cuffs, cutwork and laced detail to the sleeves, the bodice front and back mounted with cream lace and hung with silver threaded pom poms, full length with train, partial remains of a label inside '81 Maddox Street, Hanover Square London',
together with a Black Velvet Long Sleeved Full Length Evening Coat with deep collar, gilt metal decorative buttons and woven gold button loops with a gold silk lining,

Velvet coat - 36" bust, 54" long, 17" underarm - some staining to the lining and spotting, wear to the velvet.
Dress - chiffon inserts ripped to the sleeves and bodice front and back, repair to the lace collar, repair to the back of the dress, alterations and velvet rubbed.

Auction: Costume, Accessories & Textiles, 9th Feb, 2024
A host of beautiful 18th and 19th century costume and accessories redolent of the English Country House will go under the hammer in the Costume, Accessories and Textiles Sale on 9th February, including a rare set of 19th century men's livery uniforms, a group of parasols which once belonged to Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood and daughter of George V, 18th century silk shoes and dresses, a 1930s lady's motoring outfit and a carved knitting stick inscribed 'Rudding Park', the fine Georgian manor on the outskirts of Harrogate.
Also of note in the sale is a circa 1911 Steiff teddy bear, and a good collection of Lace from a Private Collection, which includes fine examples of Late 19th Century Irish Youghal Needle Lace, Late 19th Century Swiss Whitework Lace, and Early 20th Century Honiton Lace.
