Richard Vick: A 22 Carat Gold Pair Cased Verge Pocket Watch, signed Richd Vick, London, 1730, single chain fusee verge movement signed and numbered 1194, square baluster pillars, later enamel dial with Arabic numerals, later spade hands, inner case stamped IW with a star above for (John Ward), inner case with a London hallmark for 1730, outer case with maker's mark IW, outer case with no gold hallmarks

This inner case is stamped IW with a star above and the outer case marked IW for John Ward. He is recorded as a case maker circa 1730 and was working from Boars Head Court, Fleet Street, London 'free Clockmaker'. See (London Goldsmiths 1697-1837 Their Marks & Lives), by Arthur G Grimwade, page 308.
Richard Vick apprenticed in 1692, free of the Clockmakers Company 1702, Master Clockmakers Company 1729, died 1750.

Both cases with surface scratches and dents in parts, outer case hinge in good condition, glass with small scratches, inner case with rubbing to the maker's mark, later hands, later dial would date circa 1790-1800, dial is cracked and with small scratches, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement looks all complete and in going order. Both cases in are opinion test as 22 carat gold. Total watch weight 106g.
