Erudite collection from pre-stamp period through to mid-20th century, the main section written-up in three binders with focus on postal history, particularly the 19th century, having an interesting range of stampless covers (50+) incl. four with Bishop marks incl. one with two types together (day above, month below - and vice-versa), then Mulready items (3) with 1d envelope neatly cancelled by red MX and backstamped with superb Castlepollard straight-line, also an unused 2d letter-sheet with faults, then line-engraved presentation incl. twenty penny blacks by plate with at least a dozen with four margins, accompanied by black-plate 1d reds on- and off-cover, etc. Also the collector's working material in a box-file and tin with about 200 further 19th century covers, mainly line-engraved, among which we note 1d Board of Education on Geological Survey printed OHMS cover (the stamp slightly nicked before postmark applied) and other decent 20th century items, please inspect.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
