Taxidermy: A Victorian Cased Red Fox Head Mount (Vulpes vulpes), by James Gardner, 29, Late 426, Oxford Street, London, full head mount with mouth agape in aggressive pose, peering through heather, brush and fauna, above a large faux rock upon a pebbled floor, set against a watercolour painted back board, enclosed within a four-glass ebonised table display case with taped frame, 26cm by 22.5cm by 38cm, bearing taxidermist's full paper trade label to verso. The company of James Gardner was known as a purveyor of very high quality diorama cases and held Royal Warrants for Her Majesty Queen Victoria, The Royal Families of England & France and His Highness The Khedive of Egypt, thus establishing their name in the annals of taxidermy history.
