Hanoverian pattern, engraved with a crest, the knives with pistol grip handles and later steel or stainless steel blades

the forks 18.5cm long, the knives 25.5cm long, weighable silver 22oz 6dwt, 693gr

Sold for £1,900
Estimated at £600 - £800

The forks each marked on back of handle with maker's mark, assay master's mark, Edinburgh mark and date letter. With a further mark which is indistinct but is possibly a European import/tax mark. Otherwise there is wear to the marks which are difficult to read on some. The knives have an Edinburgh mark on some. Some have a further indistinct mark and others appear to have no marks. The existing marks are worn. There is overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. This is more obvious on some then on others. There is also some wear to the tines. There are some differing blades on the knives. Some have a GV cutler's mark below a crown. Others have differing marks or are unmarked. At least two of the blades are later stainless steel. There are some buises and dings overall.
