Chiurazzi, after the Antique: A Terracotta Figure of Spinario, removing a thorn from his foot, on an oval base, stamped Chiurazzi Napoli, 24.5cm high Founded in Naples in 1870, the Chiurazzi Foundry specialised in the production of accurate copies of Classical and Renaissance sculpture using casts taken from originals in the Vatican Museum, the Capitoline Museum, the Borghese Museum, the Palazzo Pitti, the Uffizi, and national archaeological museums in Florence and Naples. Most famous for their bronzes, the factory also produced reproductions in terracotta and marble
