Battle of Britain, a Set of 3 x Gold Medals struck by Johnson Matthey & Co. in 1965 for Metalimport Ltd to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain; the set comprises 3 x 18ct gold medals with obverses depicting a crowned wreath with the RAF eagle insignia in the centre with the legend ‘COMMEMORATING 25 YEARS BATTLE OF BRITAIN’ & with reverses depicting a WW11 Spitfire viewed from above with the legend ‘NEVER IN THE FIELD OF HUMAN CONFLICT WAS SO MUCH OWED BY SO MANY TO SO FEW’; the medals weigh respectively 35.62g (diameter 40mm), 18.07g (diameter 32mm) & 8.35g (diameter 22mm), a total 18ct gold weight of 62.04g (1.994oz), individually edge hallmarked & with individual certificates of authenticity, in velvet & satin lined Metalimport case of issue, some very light toning & faint handling marks o/wise all lustrous prooflike BU.
