Penny Red plates collection of stamps and covers displayed on typed-up pages in five large binders, the imperfs starting from plate 12 including characteristic varieties and thirty plated covers incl. pl.48 four margins alongside blue 'Mis-Sent To York' h/s, then the perf four-corner-letters plates with the complete set to pl.225 used and about 220 further examples on cover to pl.223. Condition varies, with few four-margin imperfs and covers often folded. Some nice postmarks here, especially Ireland. From the same estate as the previous Lot.

Highlights of the October 30th Stamp Sale include a very extensive collection of Switzerland assembled over a lifetime by a former President of the Helvetia Society of Great Britain with focus on postal history beautifully written-up on album pages; a specialised collection of Ceylon with many of the key stamps including an excellent range of classics plus King George V key-plate high values, plus from the same estate a group of the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir including a complete presentation album sent out in 1899 on behalf of the Maharajah. Also an extremely interesting large folio presentation volume of 19th Turkish revenue proof sets with ornate binding suggesting a possibly unique production for the Ottoman royal family.
