♦Anglo-Saxon, Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), Silver Penny, trefoil quadrilateral type, York Mint, moneyer Earncil; obv. EDPARE RXA around diademed bust left with sceptre pommée, rev. ERNCIL ON EOFER around quadrilateral with three pellets at each angle & pellet in centre over voided short cross; wt 1.12g, very slightly bent but full, well struck flan, attractively toned with mostly clear legends, GVF.
