A Walnut Marquetry Eight Day Longcase Clock, signed Micha Shields, London, circa 1700, carry pediment, side glass panels, trunk door with marquetry inlaid D-ended panels decorated with birds and flowers, matching inlaid plinth, 12-inch square brass dial with a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed, dial centre with ringed winding holes, seconds dial, date aperture with scroll decoration, winged cherub spandrels, five pillar movement with an anchor escapement and inside countwheel striking on a bell, possibly in a later case, 242cm high

Case with chips and cracks to the veneers in parts, hood with a later bevelled glass, later finials, trunk door with cracks to the top and lower parts through the marquetry inlay, some marquetry inlay is slightly missing to the top side of the trunk and slightly tocuhed up and gaps filled, trunk with small signs of later small pieces of patched veneer, inside trunk door with four later added metal securing brackets, re-built plinth with later marquetry front panel, plinth with a small piece of moulding missing to the front left hand corner, later added wooden blocks to both sides of the case side cheeks beneath the movement seatboard, due to the later blocks the case is possibly a later case and not made for this dial and movement originally, dial is discoloured, later minute hand is slightly twisted, movement is dirty and needs cleaning, with pendulum and two weights.

Regarding Pictures, Prints and Works on Paper, works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.

Sunday 10 July 11am-4pm, Monday 11 July to Friday 15 July 10am-4pm and morning of sale from 8am. Viewing is open to the public, there is no need to make an appointment.
