A Minton Porcelain Moon Flask, probably by William Mussill, circa 1875, painted with a pheasant before a blossoming tree and birds perched in fruiting branches on a turquoise ground within gilt borders, 26.5cm high Having been born in Carlsbad, Bohemia, Wenceslas (William) Mussill worked at Sèvres before coming to England in 1870 to work for Minton. He specialised in making sketches from nature, painting in a free style with bold impasto under the glaze
