♦Late Anglo-Saxon, Harold II (1066) Silver Penny, PAX type, Winchester Mint, moneyer Anderbode; obv. ‘HAROLD REX ANGL’ around crowned bust left with sceptre, rev. ‘ANDERBODE ON P’ around ‘PAX’ across field between two dotted lines, S.1186, obv. bust and legend double struck (apart from king’s name), rev. much better, full flan with light golden toning in legends, overall VF, VERY RARE.
