A German Third Reich SS Officer's Peaked Cap, in field grey wool, with white waffenfarbe to the crown edged and either side of the black velvet centreband, with black patent visor, silver coloured twisted double chin cord, silver washed aluminium eagle, totenkopf and pebbled buttons, leather sweatband and gold rayon lining stencilled 58
**Acquired at the end of the war by a RAMC medic from a German officer at a camp in Austria

. The white waffenfarbe (piping) is a little foxed and stained in places. The one above the centreband has small areas of wear. There is slight loss of the velvet pile to the centreband near the back seam and where the chin cord has been resting. The chin cord is soiled. The leather sweatband is fragile and with tears. The lining is soiled at the crown. The eagle badge is a little corroded. Generally in good order with no moth damage.
