An Oak Cased One Day Marine Chronometer Mantel Timepiece, signed Barraud, Cornhill, London, No.403, spring detent escapement with Arnold's type balance, free sprung helical hairspring, diamond endstone, silvered dial with Roman numerals and inscribed Fletcher, London, Maker to the Admiralty, no.403, subsidiary seconds, movement circa 1810, movement has been re-housed in this oak case circa 1850, dial signed John Fletcher. He was a highly skilled chronometer maker in the 19th century, 18cm high see illustration The movement is typical work of Robert Pennington. He was a fine clockmaker who made movements for Barraud and other clockmakers in the early 19th century.
