Morris Motors limited, a privately owned company, formed in 1919. Incredible by 1926 it's production represented 42 percent of the British car industry. One off coach built cars were rare by Morris and its with great delight that can offer this wonderful example.
This rare Morris was purpose built by the company for a London judge on the Oxford Circuit. This is a true one off, the body being raised by 150-200 mm higher than standard, widened axle and rear wings with indents in the wings to give the rear doors maximum opening for easy access. Ironically the rear seats are raised to give a seating position of height and superiority, much as the judge himself would have been used to in his place of session.
Other unusual aspects include, opening roof and a unique suspension set up using Horstman coil suspension, and probably the only Morris in existence to have this fitted.
All modifications were carried out to enable the judge to proceed from his chambers to court while dressed in his ceremonial wig and full canonicals.
On inspection this rare car is in exceptional condition which reflects a comprehensive but sympathetic restoration program by the current owner. The body previously removed for the purpose of chassis restoration, all large components, blasted and professionally painted. Engine and all mechanical items refurbished, new clutch, wiring, new radiator core, brakes, tyres and tubes.
The interior professionally reupholstered, new German nickel plated radiator cowl and bright work, glass upgraded to laminate and all the woodwork refinished to a high standard. To finish the car has had a full re-wire and a first class paint job in blue over black.
To accompany the Morris is a large history file , and photographic restoration record , original green logbook and current V5C.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a unique and historically important Morris Oxford, comprehensively restored at vast expense and ready to enjoy.
