A Victorian Presentation-Key, Dated 1892, Stamped '9ct', the fluted shank with bit pierced and engraved with the initials SW, centrally applied with a disk applied on one side with the badge of the Isle of Man with motto and engraved on the other with a depiction of the H.M.S. Victory, the finial engraved with a view of Belle Vue, Douglas, the other side with an inscription, 15.5cm long, 1oz 17dwt (57.8gr)

The inscription reads 'Presented to His Excellency Spencer Walpole, Esq. Lieut. Governor of the Isle of Man on the Occasion of the Opening of the Isle of Man International Exhibition at Belle Vue Douglas July 4th 1892'

The International Exhibition of the Isle of Man was intended 'To bring before the public in a popular manner Manufactures and Inventions of all descriptions of this and other Countries, to foster Home Industries, to encourage the attendance of Visitors to the Island, and to promote Industry, Science, Art, and Education generally.'

Among the exhibits was a full size reproduction of H.M.S. Victory, as she would have appeared following the battle of Trafalgar.
