Manuscript Indentures.
Two seventeenth century manuscript indentures:
1) A contract between yeomen in the County of Westmorland, dated 1622, ink on vellum, 27 lines, on the reverse are further notes dated 1622 (incised) and an indenture dated 1624, various signatures, sheet approx 22cm x 48cm, framed, glazed front and rear;
2) An indenture dated 1620, believed to be Westmorland related, signed, ink on vellum, 25 lines, approx 26cm x 55cm, laid down on card, framed (glazing removed). (2)
We have been kindly advised that the items are 'Deeds Poll, hence the straight tops. They are Bargains and Sales with Livery of Seisin and some form of quitclaim. They seem to refer to premises at Robridding in Kaber which was in Kirkby Stephen Parish'.
