A Mahogany Eight Day Seven Tune Musical Longcase Clock, signed William Avenell, Portsmouth, circa 1780, pagoda pediment, Corinthian capped columns, glass side panels, arch trunk door with later glass lenticle, 12-3/4-inch arch brass dial with a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, dial centre with seconds dial and flanked by engraved figures in costume, date aperture and signed, scroll engraved corners, arch with moonphase aperture and above engraved with seven musical tune selections for Brittons Strike Home/Fond Shepherd/104 Psalm/A Jigg/Patties Mill/A March/A Song, large five pillar movement with an anchor escapement and striking on a bell, playing a musical tune on a nest of twelve bells every three hours, 237cm high

Case with cracks in parts to the trunk and sides, minor chips in parts to the edges, trunk door is slightly bowed, trunk door with a later lenticle, dial is slightly discoloured, movement looks all complete, movement in going order, with pendulum and three weights.
