A Fine and Interesting 18ct Yellow Gold Wristwatch, formally the property of Alan Donald Whicker CBE, British Journalist and Television Broadcaster, signed Patek Philippe, Geneve, model: Ellipse, ref: 3546, circa 1975, (calibre 23 300) manual wind lever movement signed and numbered 1222887, stamped twice with Geneva seal, gyromax balance with blued overcoil hairspring, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and five positions, light gold coloured textured dial with Roman numerals, rectangular oval case with down turned lugs, snap-on back signed and numbered inside 2738680 3546, convention mark 18k0.750 and a London import mark, Patek Philippe black leather strap and a Patek Philippe 18ct gold buckle, 27mm by 32mm, with Patek Philippe certificate of origin purchased from Hettich Ltd, King Street Jersey 29th July 1975, Patek Philippe booklet and accompanied by a letter from Alan Whicker's long term partner bequeathing his watch to a good friend. see illustration

Alan Donald Whicker CBE (2 August 1921 - 12 July 2013) was a British journalist, television presenter and broadcaster providing distinguished service to both ITV and the BBC.
His career spanned almost 60 years, during which time he presented the documentary television programme Whicker's World for over 30 years. He was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2005 for services to broadcasting.

11.10.17, Case with surface scratches, sides of the lugs and bezel with minor dents, strap is worn in parts, dial with staining marks, some of the Roman numerals with small dot marks to the paint, winding crown is not straight on the winding stem, movement is dirty and needs cleaning.
