A Souvenir Programme and Guide of the Great Waterplane Race Around Britain for the £5,000 Prize Offered by the Daily Mail, August 1913, in crepe paper, printed in black with a map of the route flanked by text, inscribed in ink ''W.H. & E.H. saw Hawker ???? ???? at Scarboro' Augst. 25th'' and ''Hawker broke down near Dublin and lost the Prize'', within a border of flowerheads and trailing ribbons, printed by S.Burgess, 8, York Place, Strand, London, 36cm by 35cm Footnote:- The Daily Mail Circuit of Britain Air Race took place between 1911 and 1914 when prizes were awarded by the newspaper. In 1913, only one aeroplane, a Sopwith floatplane flown by Harry Hawker, took part in the race. He completed two thirds of the course before he broke down near Dublin. Although he lost the prize money, he was awarded £1,000 for his efforts.
