A US Contract Model 1865 Spencer Repeating Carbine, the 46.5cm steel barrel with hinged ladder rear sight, the top of the receiver stamped "MODEL 1865, SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE PAT'D MARCH 6 1860. MANUF'D AT PROV. R.I. BY BURNSIDE RIFLE CO. 1865" and numbered 12582, walnut half stock with single band, steel sling ring bar and sling swivel, the steel butt plate set with swivel hinged panel.
