1840 penny black plate 9 pair, with margins all round save touching points at top, tied on piece by complete scarce Chard town postmark dated 24.5.1841 as the sole cancelation, SG.2xa. Catalogue £36,000 as two single stamps with the most common town postmark. The combination of the Chard usage on a pair makes this a truly rare piece and one of the very best extant examples of a 'Wessex' postmark - you will not see the like again!
